My understanding is the belt communicates with a receiver the MyZone HUB (think specialized wifi router myzone.org/health-clubs/faq/) in your club. The code registers each belt with the MyZone Hub. The MyZone Hub then uses your wifi and internet connection to stream or upload a user's workout data to MyZone's cloud (technically database servers). The user's smartphone app is then able to display the data back to the user (technically does an API call to the web/db servers in the cloud). So, the heartrate strap needs to have a MyZone Hub within line of site and that MyZone Hub must be configured under your account with your user registered at your facility (user can probably register at multiple facilities) for the data stream to make any sense. Your monthly fee is providing this service to your users in your facility.

The MyZone strap and monitor can be used anywhere. You don't need to have a MyZone Hub present. I use mine at home and simply use the app.
