Is anyone going to this? I was planning to go so that I could bring up some of the issues we're seeing. However, when I saw that they're filtering the questions they receive I figured it's nothing more than a boondoggle for corporate paid for by zees and vendors. In talking with others conventions in the past had nothing to do with zees being able to voice their concerns and develop better solutions and more to do with corporate trying to justify their programs and lying to zees in order to try and justify their actions.

Don't bother. They will never give you a chance to voice real concerns. Just look at the online portal...they filter anything critical/constructive out. That's why weeks & months go by without any new posts.

Attended last year, being a new franchisee- interesting to say the least. Best part was getting to "pick the brain" of other zees that I've met in the past to see what works, or doesn't. Doesn't seem worth the time/money to attend every year- simply an excuse to party in Vegas (not my thing). Lot's of folks there "drinking the Kool-Aid". They did do "break out" sessions to attempt to help zees better understand things- I seem to be doing better running my own game plan rather than the Snap one, so I'll keep doing that. Just my two cents.

We attended one year. Basically seemed like an opportunity for corporate to sell us on a bunch of new services. We bought into "Truestar", and that was a total disaster. Overpriced supplements at double or triple what similar products go for at GNC, etc.

Seems to me like another opportunity for corporate to push their propaganda and agenda on unsuspecting franchisees. When Peter invites me to a roundtable at the corporate office where he's actually willing to do some listening instead of talking, I'll think about going.

Just in from convention. They're rolling out search engager, which will allow you to do searches from within fitware. It's focused on the fitness industry, so it's more customized to your club. It's limited to 6 character searches, because clubs have indicated that this is the maximum number of characters they need to search for, it'll only take you 15 clicks to do the actual search, logs you out after 30 seconds of inactivity and crashes every couple of days. It was being offered on an opt-in basis, but after the response from clubs it's now mandatory and will only cost you $30 more per month. It's very important that searches done at different clubs be uniform and provide the same response "Error 404". This ensures a consistent message to members.
Seriously though THE snap convention is basically, here are some ill conceived products we've come up with, you have to buy them from us and don't ask questions.

Usually they have a discount or free shipping for the Pro Shop. In the past I have bought things with that discount. Is this being offered? Well even if it is, all the sizes are XL and Large. Not much to choose from.

Only minor tidbit I heard was that 7 day trial passes will no longer be offered on the Snap website. The 30 day trial will still be, of course.

the 7 day thing was a bust anyway. Unless you get the billing info....then hey, bring in all the 7 day people into my club that you want.
I want to know about silver sneakers!! Any word?

Our close rate on 7 day trials is just over 70%. Normally, if they do a 7 day trial they're signing up. The 30 day trials are less than 10%. Seems a little stupid that when we pay an exorbitant amount for a website we get a fraction of what one gets if they go out to godaddy or wix. We'll still offer the 7 day trial one way or another.
