Yes, I too support whatever this may be.
Now do you understand? If you want any credibility then create an account and get in the game. Otherwise I view you as nothing more than someone from corporate just trying to fake support for some money grabbing scheme they're trying to push forward.
It also allows people to see if it's nothing more than a drive-by comment. By that I mean. Create an account. Comment on a topic. Never be heard from again.
All games played by corporate to try to give an illusion of support.

I don't charge the fee, and never will. I run a very successful business and am able to improve my club without hitting my members up for extra fees.

I am signed in as guest because i am at my day job and can't remember my log in stuff.. I am legit lol.. anyways. We did the enhancement fee last year, I was scared but I held my ground. our single membership is 39.95, I explained to members that all other fitness centers charge this and we decided to join them for improving our facility, broke it down for the member as its only 2.88 a month, less than a starbucks coffee once a month. I lost a total of 10 memberships between both my clubs, dealt with some angry souls and got called every name in the book, but I did not back out or back down. This year will be better because they are fully aware I am still charging it! I already had several insurance people ask when it is due. We can't charge them but we wrote up a nice letter for donations and many insurance members donated.
Oh.. one member was such a jerk he caused trouble.. he transferred out to a club that backed out at the last minute and tried to get more of my members to transfer there too, however they all told him to take a hike! He emailed Corp and Corp tossed us all under the bus saying it was our decision and they had nothing to do with it. asshats!!!!
I side stepped Corp and Octane Fitness and bought a new octane for several hundred less. I will side step corp again and get what I want. Myzone is a waste, I have that one club and an old one from a club I closed... It is a money pit as well.. I would like to say Snap says its Snap Branding to have Myzone.. then why is our competitors using it? How is this Snap branding??? Just curious...

I debated whether to go for the enhancement fee this year since I posted last. So much so, I believe the thought process gave me a split personality. I knew what I really wanted to do and what I could live with. Charging a fee for a few minor upgrades just won't fly with my members. Corp has told me to buy some bands, kettlebells, mats and splash some paint on the walls and say there you go! Money well spent. I just don't think so.
I spent days speaking to my members about it one on one. I asked them what they'd like to see in the club that we do not have or any improvements for that matter. Most all smiled and said it's perfect the way it is and they wouldn't touch a thing. After all these years, I take care of things so well they still consider it new stuff.
Like it or not, we all "RENT" our facilities for a monthly charge. So I am supposed to charge for new paint, murals, bands, wood flooring etc and then turn around and rent it back to them each month for that monthly charge I already get? It just doesn't make sense to me at this point. "Everybody is doing it, so I think I will" is not a phrase I'd like to adopt. That's what I am supposed to tell my members? Seriously? The only thing that rings in my ears is what Determined said about underhanded tactics. They actually are. It's a way of hiding fees to get you to join and collect more $$ later on.
The actual mod fee isn't going to be as bad as I thought. Flooring is decent. They said they won't require me to replace it with new. Just the border and entrance area. Gym needs new paint anyway. I think it's more affordable now. I don't have much experience with Myzone, but if I'm the only one on the screen posting my heart rate I'll be pissed. I'm old school workout. Shut up and train. I don't need "me anything" posting live feeds anywhere. I'll keep an open mind for now and give it a good try. If it's a total flop, I'll probably bring it all to the convention and throw my sensors at Peter and John.
