So I've discovered that if we charge a member, let's say $35 and later credit that $35 back to them our credit processor (Vantiv/Jonas/Fifth-thirds) charges us $7 for refunding the members' money back to them. To me this just sounds like theft.
Additionally, this group is charging us a monthly fee on top of all of the other fees they levy against us. They're claiming they sent out a letter in 2014 notifying us of these addional monthly fees. I never agreed to it and never signed off on it.
I've contacted a class action lawyer to see if there's a case which could be filed against these thieves. If you'd be interested in being a part of the class action please let me know here. I'll update once they let me know their thoughts on whether a class action would be successful.
There's also been talk about using bank account EFTs instead of credit cards. Our wonderful processor charges $5 if that doesn't go through for one reason or another.
With so many options out there for credit card processors why would anyone elect to go with this group?

You can count me in. These guys screw up my 1099K every year and charge us unbelievable amounts of fees as well.

In addition to the 1099K screw ups, I just calculated the percentage we're being charged on our recurring dues. This works out to 3.9%. This seems awfully high. Isn't this supposed to be more on the order of 1%?

I just noticed on my bank statement that Jonas just took out a members pre-paid membership that she paid one month ago. When I called her about it she told me there is always enough money in her account for any purchases she makes. Jonas said the payment was declined by the members bank. This is BS the payment was received by my bank and not returned to her bank. She also gave me a copy of the statement showing the processed payment. Jonas still says they are right and the banks are wrong. I am investigating further and while I haven't been an owner very long, less than 5 years, this may make me look at attempting to get out of this ridiculous organization How are we all putting up with this everyday.

Check out Gym Insight software. It looks like you can have your own merchant acct and just plug it into their gym software. Just throwing that out maybe we can run it side by side

I would be interested in pursuing a suit against them as well. I also know several others that would be on board. I get charged a daily fee from Jonas and from Snap ranging .27 to 2.32 a day per each of these and then twice in the last month was charged by Jonas 27.00 for no reason in my eyes and they refuse to communicate with me.

anyone else get 2 1099s from these smelly turds? I did and not matching #s......and the second 1099 didn't say revised either! Usually if there's a discrepancy on the first it says revised or correction on a second one. Neither/Nada. Im curious because not only do I have 1099 employees I am a contract worker as well for the healthcare industry. Seems pretty fishy.

while I hesitate to take too public a stand because we all know how things can frequently come back to bite us, I do feel that with the never-ending and too frequently duplicative (not to mention exorbitant for the services rendered....) fees we're charged, the time has come to stop the abuse. I can't even get 1099 s from Jonas and I've called and written four times! So if there is a group action being contemplated, count me in. Fair is fair, and this treatment surely isn't.
