So a breach or not. We have a lot of members going to be upset if data was stolen. Sounds like they really don’t know for sure.

Breach my ass! A breach would not have them down this long. You could "breech" their system and format all their hard drives and they'd be back up within 2 days maximum (1 day if they knew what they were doing). They are lying through their teeth. But they know most are not IT-intelligent thus most will believe what they are claiming.

They read a lawyer written statement from a teleprompter to cover THEIR ass.

I agree this isn’t the whole story but if it is in any way true and a “breach” happened imagine the nightmare if all of our information and members info was stolen. Has anyone else talked to their attorney about this?

So one small portion is back up. Wanna guess what's up? Wanna buy a fitkit? Ignore words and follow actions. It'll show you exactly where their priorities lie.
BTW, I don't buy the whole data breach thing either. Then again I rarely believe anything out of the mouths of corporate. All one has to do is watch their actions. They typically fly in the face of what they say.

It was brought up to me this morning by a member looking to log into their account. I was also able to see it going through the home page of the portal. Just tried it again, but now I'm getting page not found.

The only breach is the breach of the franchise agreement! The only thing that snap corporate provides to its franchisees is the billing system and the door access system and they are not providing them anymore!

Cheryl, I woke up this morning with the "Bob the paper clip" visual which I totally forgot about. I keep laughing wondering if Caleb came in last Friday morning staring at a totally mangled paper clip. lol

There have been a bunch of breaches this past week. Just today was Marriott. However, their systems were back up and running immediately. All of these may have been more than breaches. They could have been malicious attacks. The difference is the team to resolve the issue. A larger company has a skilled IT group and can also call on their vendors (Oracle, HP, IBM, etc) for help, guidance and or direction. snap has shown over and over that they think IT can be handled by a monkey with a laptop and elects to handle it on their own. With the right hardware and software the systems should be back up in minutes, maybe an hour depending on how long it takes your database to roll out updates from the last known good backup.
Think of someone losing their phone. You have 3 different types of people: 1- The person who has everything on a flash drive and restores all the data from their phone 2 - The person who has everything backed up on a system at home and restores everything when they get home 3 - The person who says "backups", what are those? Why do I have to do that?
snap is more like person number 3. However, instead of not knowing what backups are they don't know what other technologies, such as snapshots and network attached storage are and how they're beneficial in times of crisis. Worse, they don't want to know anything about them. "They're doing fine taking care of it themselves".

So now they're moving their data to someone else's storage (aka the cloud). Question is are they going with an established host or with this be another of petie's relatives who's decided to start their own business?

I'm still struggling to understand how it's taking over a week to get the systems back up and running. If you're transferring data and have a straw for a network connection then it can take some time. However, if that's the case then you simply box the storage up and ship it or drive it yourself to the new location. They're in the middle of the country. You can get it to a data center anywhere in the country in a day and back up in a few hours. How the f&*( is it taking over a week?
Sorry, the story just doesn't hold water.

So we've reached our boiling point now. We contacted classaction.com and made them aware of the situation from both a franchisee and member perspective. We also posted this on our non-Snap website
"All of the Snap computer systems have been down for over a week now. We've been given very little information from our franchisor, Lift Brands, located in Chanhassen MN. At this time we're not able to provide any door log information, change any billing information or anything else related to the Snap system. If you believe your data has been compromised I'd advise contacting classaction.com for any damages you may have incurred. We've been told we should have access around 12/4/18."

It would appear more than 1 person saw this coming. Check out Lift Brands reviews on Glassdoor. www.glassdoor.ca/Reviews/Lift-Brands-Reviews-E975892.htm I have copied a couple highlights below. "The developers who caused all the problems with the software are long gone." "The software the company depends on is the very worst I've ever seen. It will take years to nurture it back to some semblance of health." "You will be working on software that is terribly antiquated and can only be described as hideous gore. You will be lied to and mistreated. You will work for incompetent management." "The COO will ruin your life and make you absolutely miserable. Very toxic environment." "I didn't know Management could be this bad, you have proved me wrong."
