Hello,
Other than classes and PT, what else do you sell at your club? Supplements? Tanning?
Thanks in advance

We sell a little bit of supplements from a couple different lines. Not a huge revenue stream, but a little bit here and there helps.

re: Tanning, I am seriously contemplating ripping out our tanning booth before replacing the bulbs again. Our tanning revenue has gradually dwindled over the past few years...I think there is increased awareness about the dangers of skin cancer, and it's simply not as popular as it used to be.

Ditto Supercool, I'm thinking about dropping tanning. I have it in just one of my four locations. Trying to stay compliant and it just seems anti-fitness. But then I'd have an empty room that's not big enough for Hydromassage. Any Ideas for the 9x8 space?

We got rid of tanning a while ago. Really does not send the right message about health/fitness. Plus the extra room really came in handy. We sell a fair amount of product. Protein bars, Arbonne products (shakes, bars, fizz sticks)water and propel. Water is the best margin...get a case of 40 at Sam's for $5 or .13/each and sell em for a buck. Propel is also a big hit. Blender bottles also go well. At the end of the year the profits probably pay a few electric bills but it's pretty easy money.

Oh yeah, water is an easy money maker. We actually have a mini fridge in our gym area with an "honor basket", and ask people to pay a dollar per bottle.

Supercool - You must have some honorable people in your club leaving a basket out with cash. I imagine there aren't too many areas one can do that. It is an easy money maker for sure. I use the same small glass door fridge idea and it is on the honor system as well, but I have a simple lock box on top. I basically took this metal box and milled a larger slot on top (than it already has) for dollar bills and screwed it to the top of my fridge with sheet metal screws. Both of my clubs I've been using this for 7 years plus. Dress it up with nice laminated stickers you make yourself like "Deposit Here". No mill? Use a file. The box I speak of looks like this on amazon.. Buddy Products Stamp and Coin Box, Steel, 3.375 x 3 x 5.5 Inches, Gray (0505-1) I've had as much as $30+ in this box. Works great!

Since the new modernization requirements do not include the color red anymore and now more earth tone colors I still wonder why the t-shirts sold in the portal are still only red and black. I would like different colored tees and so would my members. I told the guy at the print and pro shop his apparel is lame for a company that has been around for a few years. He laughed and said it was out of his hands. I think it is Peter's brother? Where do you get your shirts? Getting tired of wearing red and black...

We had some printed by a local shirt shop, in a variety of different colors. I think our cost was around $3-4/shirt. We give one free to each new member when they join. People love them, and it's free advertising when they wear them around town.
