I would be interested in seeing a snap fitness franchisee association formed to represent the interests of franchisees. There would be an initial cost for this, but if enough franchisees are interested the costs would be minimal. This is the only way I see to stop poorly planned products from being forced on franchisees and increasing their costs.
The latest I've seen is having to pay for a chip capable card reader and then being charged $30/month for it. As it is what I'm currently paying per month for processing is about 30% higher than what I could negotiate on my own. I have 3 different processors offering lower transaction costs, a free chip enabled reader and $0/month for that reader.
The new reader is designed to enable us to move to a paperless environment. Here's a NEWS FLASH: we've been paperless for just over two years now. We signed up with a franchise to get advice from someone knowledgable in the field, but find snap to typically be about 2 to 3 years behind.
There are several different areas a Franchisee Association would help to bring benefits to our members, thereby increasing memberships and revenues. This is a much better route than trying to find more and more ways to provide little to no benefit and simply increasing franchisee costs. In the end higher membership numbers will result in increased revenues across the board. Simply raising franchisee costs is the Curves model and look where it's gotten them. I don't want to go down that path.

Determined1..I completely agree that an association could be beneficial and we would be interested in joining/organizing. We would need a majority of owners to participate to potentially get any results. In our experience, corporate has had absolutely no flexibility with regards to their programs/systems and feedback given from those actually in the field.
