It's funny (not really), every month I take a look at our numbers and hate the fact that we're not improving on our decline percentages. However, when I think about this more the thing we can control is to make sure we haven't made any stupid mistakes. Other than that this is more a reflection on corporate and how well they're doing as it relates to updating members' billing information. When I average ours out we're at a decline of about 15%. 98% of those are from credit cards which have been declined because they aren't being updated. In my book an average decline rate of 15% is pathetic. This is the only real area where Snap HQ plays a role in our revenues and they're doing an amazingly awful job at it. I have hundreds of friends who have recurring dues businesses and their decline rates are an average of 2% and the majority of that is because of Amex and Discover cards. In my book that makes Snap HQ a bad performer.
In summary, HQ you're failing your franchisees.

Im close to that too..some months higher..
My answer is ACH... Go to bank draft, andcut the BS. we just did this, nobody is complaining, and I tell them about the chip cards and what a pain they were and they give a knowing laugh whenthey sign up, I think they get it.

We're going to start pushing for bank drafts. We're also around 10% or so a month in declines. The first of the month is a love/hate time. snap hq could fix that very easily if they'd stop putting their own interests ahead of that of franchisees.

I haven't gotten my decline list yet either, I believe it's too early. My guess is most of them will be up tomorrow.

Yeah, I was excited thinking that maybe the auto updater had been implemented, but thinking the revenues weren't high enough. Then had a member come in to write a check because she said she knew billing wouldn't go through and saw no charge on her card.

Not sure what the costs for declined payments are anymore. I think they used to be $.10 for cc's and $10 for each draft? I remember trying to recoup that $10 from a member in addition to the monthly fee. They fight me on it or do not even come back. Draft scares me to that extent, but cc delinquents are driving me nuts. The beginning of the month is a love/hate time isn't it...

The percentage is actually much higher when to filter out members on a prepay plan.
