Wanted to see what you guys are charging for your memberships.
We have 3 packages
Standard which is $8.95 signup/pro-rate and then $34 per month.
Foundation - $199 signup (they get goodies including a Myzone/2 pt sessions) / no pro-rate and then $29 per month.
Transition - $299 signup (goodies include MyZone/4 pt sessions/vitamins) / no pro-rate and then $25 per month.
We offer PT and MyZone currently and are looking at putting in FOD next month.
There are two thoughts that I fight with though. One is that I can lower the price to $19.99 per month and then just let basically everyone in and let them tear up the equipment, charge the yearly fee and run like that
OR
The current way which is the above with no annual fee. We have gotten a better clientele who take care of the equipment but less members.
So basically volume over higher fees.
Also, what other amenities do you offer?

It should be based on the competition in your market. What are your competitors charging?

How successful are you? Don't worry about what other snaps are charging. What works in one market may bomb in another. This is one of the BIG problems with snap. They believe in one size fits all. If this isn't working for you then we can offer suggestions based on your input.

Hi,
Competition: Planet Fitness within 5 miles, SNAP within 6 miles, 24-7 Workout Anytime within 4 miles (low price leader).
We are doing 'ok'. We get 15 or so member sign ups a month. No one really complains about the prices but we do have people state that they are going to PF because they are cheaper and stuff like that.
It's not that we are doing bad, but just wondering if there is a better way.
Thanks
btw - Merry Christmas to everyone!

What's the mix of members on your $34, $29 and $25 plans? What sort of plan does the other snap have? One problem we've had is a nearby snap undercutting our price and telling people they can just go work out at our club. $0 program fee, etc. How many members/memberships do you have? What's you're average $ per member per month? How long have you been open?

Hi,
The gym opened 2008 but we bought it in August. It has around 400 members and is up a little from when we took over. Had to clean a lot of dead accounts. The breakdown by dollar wouldn't mean much as we've only been selling the $34 for a couple months now but we get about 20 new customers a month, of those 3/4 go with the $34.
