I would bet that the network was the victim of RansomWare. It probably was sitting on the systems for a while before being activated and that is why there are no backup. It infected all of the systems and IT is working to get the systems back up by rebuilding it. Hopefully our data is still safe, but I think the code for the sites i.e. Fitware etc are gone.

It would be nice if they gave us more detailed information so we wouldn't have to postulate on different scenarios.

Interesting about the door. I have to admit I haven't looked at it too closely. So then it's actually a self contained unit. Is the club computer in the loop somewhere? If someone joins in another club I'm guessing that's not automatically updated to the controller, maybe the club computer. So with the way the system is now (with corporate down), if a member from a different club has never come into your club is that data already in the door controller? If not does it then go out to the club computer or corporate computer to validate the membership and then store that in internal memory? If so then visiting members won't have access unless they've been to that club before.
There's also the question of door logs. Is that data kept in the controller or uploaded to the club computer if it can't communicate then how much data can it hold? I already have members upset with us because it's getting near year end and they're not able to get their door logs. They want me to pull them down for them and I have to tell them that Snap's system has been down since 11/23 and I have no access to anything Snap related.

Only YOUR data is in YOUR door unless another member from another club goes there. The door controllers can only hold a finite amount of data -- most likely ours are all beyond capacity and no more logging is being done and is, for all practical purposes, lost. That is going to cost many of us -- how much do you want to be that corporate will not compensate us for those costs nor even the downtime?

It's a self contained unit that has storage capability and network comm. I doubt the club computer has anything to do with it except a user interface for you to input a new key card. If someone joins another club their key card is not locally stored (your club) until they use it on your door. I am not sure what happens when half our stuff isn't working as is the case now. It seems to me there may be a central controller that our door modules communicate with and access info such as door logs. Your door module doesn't do that and neither your computer.
Ever term someone and see their key card work at your door a several hours later? Happened to me before. Your door module probably didn't update as it is supposed to. Power reset should fix that.

I have yet to read a national story anywhere about the incompetence of Snap Corporate. Maybe the correct investigative reporter has not yet been contacted?

No update for today so far... can't be a good sign. Honestly I'd be surprised if they have anything up and running before next week at the earliest, despite them saying "a few more days" since Sunday.

Anyone wonder how they could possibly be attacked?

Does anyone really think it's a good idea to alert an investigative reporter about these issues we are experiencing? Journalists are pieces of shit. Do you think they'll truly be on YOUR side? You're sadly mistaken. They rarely get a story completely accurate. They aren't techies. I've had personal experiences with their reporting on issues I have worked on in the past. They must sensationalize the story somehow otherwise people will change the channel. Do you want to bet they'll use terms like "cc hack, breach and how safe is your cc you entrust to others?" Say goodbye to your members if this is the case. It's all about ratings my friends.
Right now the snap ship has taken a hit and is leaking water. If you want to just blow everything out of the water including your investment and close your club then go ahead and push for one of those fucking idiot reporters to squawk about something they know nothing about. Personally, I'd like to try and get my money back I have invested and walk, but I'm not involving the outside world of morons to take part in destroying my efforts to accomplish this. I'm certainly not going to get it back by forcibly destroying the reputation of the name on my building so that nobody wants to walk through my door anymore.
Believe me..I have my issues with Peter and I'm not happy with everything, but Peter is not throwing in the towel and we'll all still be there when things are back up and running again. Then we will have to deal with the damage caused by some investigative reporter which did nothing to help our bottom lines, but give us more grief than we need.

I don’t think a reporter would be a good decision now with this IT problem. However an investigation on fraud to all of the franchisees might be benifical to get an awakening and allow for class action lawsuits. And I am not an IT expert by any means but with Peter putting the update on a YouTube video pretty much let’s the cat out of the bag. If the public accesses that video and hear any words on infrastructure attacks or breach, you don’t think they are already hesitant about leaving their personal information on file with us? Again I’m not an expert so maybe this YouTube video isn’t available for a public search. Correct me if I’m wrong.
